Research interests

  • M. Bratasyuk is the author of more than 300 scientific publications, including 20 monographs, a number of textbooks and more than 30 educational and methodological works. He has publications in foreign scientific publications. The most significant of the scientific developments are works on the problems of the philosophy of Ukrainian culture, the history of philosophy, civil society, the anthropological nature of law, certain aspects of ontology, episecology and axiology of law, the methodology of law, the rule of law.
  • The main scientific interests lie in the history of the philosophy of law, philosophical and legal problems of our time, the problem of the formation of an open society, legal anthropology, sociology of law, etc.
  • She was among the first researchers who began to revive philosophy and sociology of law in Ukraine, in particular such problems as: philosophical understanding of the phenomenon of law, the idea of polymethodology of modern legal science, modern legal thinking, clarification of the value-semantic characteristics of law, philosophical and legal understanding of the Ukrainian natural and legal tradition, philosophical and legal understanding of the rule of law; understanding of the theoretical model of civil society and its national and regional features, as well as the peculiarities of the formation and establishment of civil society in the post-Soviet space, including in domestic conditions, etc.;
  • Bratasyuk’s author’s works were discussed at a number of scientific meetings, in particular at international scientific and theoretical conferences, including within the framework of events initiated by the International and All-Ukrainian Associations of Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy, the OSCE, the National Commission for the Strengthening of Democracy and The Rule of Law, the Ukrainian Legal Foundation, the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine.

Biography

Education: Graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy of Kyiv State University. T.G. Shevchenko, now Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (1980) and faculty of law of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (2002).

Scientific degree and academic rank:

In 1986 she defended her Ph.D. thesis in the specialty “social philosophy”;

In 1995 she defended her doctoral dissertation in the specialty 09.00.05 – history of philosophy.

Associate Professor’s certificate was received in 1992.

The academic title of Professor of the Department of State theory and law was awarded to the HAC of Ukraine in 2002.

Work experience: scientific and pedagogical work experience is more than 39 years in total. She went from assistant professor to professor, working in a number of higher educational institutions of Ukraine, including such leading Ukrainian universities as:

– Kyiv University of Law of NA of Sciences of Ukraine – from 2012 to 2014, professor of the department of theory and history of state and law (taught a course of theory of state and law, history of legal and political teachings, special course “Rule of law as the basis of modern legal development”, etc.);

– Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs, now the National Academy of Internal Affairs – from January 2004 to 2012, Professor of the Department of Humanitarian and General Law Disciplines (taught courses in philosophy, philosophy of law, sociology of law, theory of state and law, history of legal and political teachings);

– Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – from 2008 to 2020 (teaches courses in the history of legal and political studies, theory of state and law);

– Ivan Franko National University of Lviv – from 2014 to today, Professor of the Department of Philosophy (teaches a course in philosophy,  philosophical and legal problems of our time).

Projects

Bratasyuk prepared for the higher school of Ukraine, the judicial system and notaries of Ukraine 13 candidates of sciences who successfully work in the specialty: of which 3 candidates of sciences in the specialty “History of Philosophy”. 8 candidates of sciences in the specialty “philosophy of law”, 1 candidate of sciences in the specialty “social philosophy” and 1 candidate of sciences in the specialty “theory and history of state and law; history of legal and political teachings”;

M. Bratasyuk was elected a member of specialized academic councils of the National Academy of Internal Affairs for the defense of doctoral and candidate’s dissertations in the specialties: philosophy of law; legal psychology; theory and methodology of vocational education (2006 – 2011) and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations in the following specialties: history of philosophy, philosophical anthropology, social philosophy and philosophy of history (1997 – 2014). She was appointed scientific secretary of the specialized academic council D 26. 007.01. at the BBC (2009-2011). Іs a member of the editorial boards of a number of scientific journals and collections. (1997 – 2014 р.р.).

She is a member of the editorial boards of a number of scientific journals and collections, as well as a reviewer of the «International Philosophical Journal» (New York, USA).

Awards

For conscientious work, significant contribution to the development of higher education, philosophical and legal science and Ukrainian culture, in particular, noted:

– a valuable gift of the President of Ukraine (2001);

– Diploma of Ternopil Regional State Administration and Ternopil Regional Council (2001);

– for active work in the Union of Lawyers of Ukraine, the development of the rule of law, strengthening the law and order, the Union of Lawyers of Ukraine awarded it with an Honorary Diploma in 2003;

– for high scientific achievements and success in educational work received a Diploma from the mayor of Kyiv O. Omelchenko (2004);

– received the Gratitude of the Dean of the Law Department of the Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs for her active participation in the preparation and conduct of scientific events (2006);

– awarded a commemorative medal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs for high achievements in educational and research work in 2009;

–  the jubilee commemorative sign “85 years of the Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs” for high achievements in educational and research work was noted in 2006;

– for active participation in research work in 2010-2011 she was awarded the Diploma of the National Academy of Internal Affairs and the Educational Institute of Psychology and Law in 2011;

–  for high achievements in educational and scientific work was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Rectorate of the Kyiv National Linguistic University (2013);

– for selfless service to the Ukrainian national idea, a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture was awarded the Diploma of the Ternopil Regional State Administration (2013).
