Course description

The industrial internship in the field of specialization is an integral part of the specialization discipline within the bachelor’s degree curriculum. It is conducted during full-time study in the 7th semester of the 4th year. This internship is held separately from the academic process and lasts for three weeks — accounting for 4.5 ECTS credits (135 hours). The form of assessment is a differentiated credit, evaluated on a 100-point scale according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

The industrial internship in the field of specialization plays a significant role in the professional training of students in higher education institutions, as it constitutes an essential component of the educational process. During the internship, students receive individual assignments at their respective internship placements.

The purpose of the industrial internship is for students to complete practical tasks provided by the internship bases, which include government agencies, local self-government bodies, public organizations, political party headquarters, the National Institute for Strategic Studies, analytical centers, the Center for Political Studies, the Razumkov Centre (Ukrainian Centre for Economic and Political Studies), and the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Each student receives individual assignments depending on the specific institution or organization to which they are assigned.

The tasks of this internship aim to apply the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired by students concerning the specifics of a political scientist’s work in various fields of activity. Interns are expected to develop skills such as organizing a political scientist’s workplace, keeping a field diary, drafting work plans, preparing projects, and completing individual tasks assigned by the internship base. Additionally, students will improve their public speaking and discussion skills on political topics, and learn how to interact with the administration of the host organization — including remotely, if necessary.
